How to Get Here
The Ecuador BirdFair takes place at the Quito Botanical Garden, right in La Carolina Park. There are several ways to get there; here is our recommendation, from most to least convenient.
1. By Metro
This is the most comfortable option and the one we recommend. The closest station is La Carolina. The Garden is just a few minutes’ walk away. Our partner Not Your Average American has a guide for using the Metro:
2. By Uber or Didi
Order your ride through the app instead of hailing a taxi on the street: it’s safer and you see the price before getting in. Share the Botanical Garden’s address with the driver or drop a pin on the app’s map so they know which entrance to use.
When leaving, walk one or two blocks before requesting your ride to avoid congestion at the entrance.
3. In your own vehicle
Parking is available in La Carolina Park and nearby neighborhoods for US$1 per hour. Spaces fill up quickly, especially on weekends and sunny days, so arrive early or consider taking the Metro.
Where to Stay
Quito has options for all tastes and budgets, but the area around La Carolina Park is the most practical for the fair: it’s close to the Botanical Garden and the Metro, and has restaurants and cafes within easy reach. Choose based on how you travel: on the maps below you can see hotels and vacation rentals near the Garden.
Hotels
If you prefer a hotel, there are many options near La Carolina Park. They are the best alternative if you plan to attend the Ecuador BirdFair for several consecutive days or join the morning birdwatching excursions, which depart from a meeting point in La Carolina Park, on Avenida de los Shyris.
